Getting Ready for Great Maternity Pictures?

When to Plan Your Pregnancy Photos?

The best time for a maternity photoshoot is around 7 or 8 months into your pregnancy. I had mine at 8 months, which worked well for me. If it’s too close to your due date, it might get a bit tricky.

Pregnant bellies grow differently for everyone. A handy tip: When your belly is nice and round, that’s the perfect time! If your pregnancy has complications, talk to your doctor. You might need to do the shoot before 7 months.

Choosing the Right Photographer

Research photographers, check out their past work, and pick someone experienced. Photographers have different prices, but I think paying more than $500 per hour is unnecessary. I paid $350 per hour and got 15 edited photos.

When you talk to a photographer, share your ideas, so they understand what you’re envisioning. Make sure they can do what you’re looking for.

Picking a Good Location

Go for a spot with a pretty view. We went with the beach – my favorite place. We took pictures by the water, strolled on the sand, and even posed under a pier as the sun was setting.

Choosing Your Outfit

You don’t have to match outfits with your partner!. Just think about where you’re shooting and pick colors that work well. For outdoors, lighter colors usually look better, in my opinion. Also, if it’s sunny, sheer fabrics can be nice.

Doing Your Makeup

If you’re doing your makeup, remember to bring it to the shoot. You’ll need to touch it up now and then. Don’t forget lip balm or gloss – dry lips won’t look great in photos!

False lashes can make your eyes appear bigger. I always feel lovely with them on. I suggest Newcally Natural Multipack Lashes. Their lashes look full but not too dramatic.

Styling Your Hair

Use hairspray, whether you’re curling or straightening your hair. It helps hold everything in place, especially if it’s windy outside.

Props?

Bring something to sit on, especially if you’re shooting at a park or beach. The ground might be damp, and you don’t want your clothes to get dirty. Choose a color that goes well with your outfit.

Don’t Forget… Ladies, no matter where you take your maternity photos, remember sunblock and water. Stay hydrated and eat something before the shoot. Bringing a snack can be smart too.

When you’re posing, relax and have fun!

Best wishes for your photoshoot!
